This project is limited to information being shared due to NDA
Akeela is an app that looks to inspire adventures and foster world exploration. Our solutions enhance outdoor experiences through digital tools for planning, safety and insights no matter how remote people are.
Below is an overview of what my role responsibilities are and what I’m currently working towards.
Role and responsibilities
Research responsibilities and outputs
Identifying user requirements
Writing conversation guidelines interviews
Design responsibilities and outputs
Collating design elements by theme to create moodboards
Develop UX/UI designs
Designing icons
Completing high-fidelity visuals and prototypes
Creating a style guide
Providing and receiving feedback to maximise progress and development.
Developing landing page
I had been given the opportunity to come up with some concepts for the landing page. The design had to consider the following :
Show users history of their past adventures
Show users their draft plans of upcoming adventures
Provide the user to be able to search for adventures
Inspire user with new adventures
V1
Version One did not meet all the requirements as the user did not have access to their draft or history plans for adventures. Pro’s however were the different categories that are available for the user to choose from. This would give the user the opportunity to choose different types of adventures. The category feature would be a future development.
V2
Version Two did not meet requirements as the design was not clear as to whether it just showed one or multiple ideas for adventures. The images under draft plans needed more clarity whether they were clickable or just images.
V3
Version Three added affordance to the ‘Ideas of Adventures’ section as this design indicates that their are multiple items and position affordances in a way that suggests the direction of the carousel navigation. The ‘My draft plans’ is clearer and introduces a CTA for the user which looks to encourage the user to start planning adventures.
V4
Version four is an alternative layout to Version three if there was no carousal being developed. Ultimately the carousal design is the favored one out of the two.
V5
Version five is the final version. It clearly shows the user more info on both the draft and history plans and makes the most use of space and navigation by using the carousal.
Work in Progress
I am currently working towards testing the conversation guidelines to make sure it runs smoothly for user testing.
Once this process is completed I will look to collate the findings and present them back to the team.
Takeaways
Throughout this project I have learnt the following
There are multiple ways of doing things, and depending on the team and situation there will be a solution that will best fit the circumstance.
The importance of asking questions to enable a better understanding of direction, results to maximum use of time.
Creating a style guide.
Trusting in my abilities and accepting that failure is not a step back but step forward.
Allowing myself to have patience for my own learning and accepting that through perseverance and time will come speed in my process and skills.
