Mosaiq Insights: Discovery and early concept phase
2024 • | UX Designer | Figma, Lookback, Miro
Project summary
Mosaic Insights is a tool that helps people understand important data about how their transit network (like buses) is working. I got to be a part of the exciting first step in making this tool, where we came up with ideas for how it could look and work.
During this phase, I talked to real people who would use the tool to find out what they needed help with, what made their jobs harder, and what would make their work easier. By listening to them, I learned what problems they were facing and how the tool could help them.
Then, I took all these ideas and created some early concepts for the tool, showing how it could be super easy for anyone to use and understand important information. It was an exciting chance to take all the ideas and turn them into something that could really make a difference!

Iterated on designs based on customer feedback, refining key features
Outputs
Initial concepts demonstrating how the tool could work
Insights from design testing, driving improvements in usability
Refined iterations based on user feedback
Takeaways
User insights drive better design:
Talking to real users early helped us avoid assumptions and build something truly useful.
Iteration is key:
Testing early concepts helped identify pain points and improve usability before development.
Balancing data & simplicity:
Making complex transit data accessible without overwhelming users was a crucial design challenge.
